Ojukwu: MASSOB tours Anambra villages

The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) yesterday began tour of all the communities in the Anambra West Local Government Area of Anambra State as part of preparation for the burial of the former Biafran warlord, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.

Addressing the people of Nzam at the headquarters of Anambra West Council Area, the Regional Administrator of the Region, Donatus Nweke said the tour was to familiarize with the people in the rural areas.

According to Nweke, MASSOB, as part of its obligation to maintain peaceful and non violent struggle for the actualization of Biafran state, had decided to move into the rural communities to sensitize them on the activities of the movement.

He, however, stated that MASSOB was born out of Nigeria ’s hostility to Ndigbo, adding that they would maintain the non violent approach as panacea for the liberation of the people of Igbo nation.
“Chief Ralph Uwazurike’s choice of non violent approach has made it possible for old, young and even handicapped to be strong members of MASSOB today and we assure you that nonviolent approach remains the most civilized way of achieving freedom,” he said.

Responding on behalf of the traditional Ruler of Nzam, Igwe Okolo, Johnson Okolo admonished members of the movement to remain focused and never allow themselves to be used by politicians.
Igwe Okolo, however, expressed sadness over the death of the former Biafran warlord, Odumegwu Ojukwu, whom he described as a detribalized Nigerian, whose commitment for better Nigeria was total.
The youth President of Oroma Etiti, Mr. Ignatius Igboanugo, on behalf of the youths of the community thanked MASSOB for the tour, assuring that it would afford them the opportunities to seek for clarification on the operations of the movement.
